Photo: er... no good pictures today. The four I actually got around to taking were not post-worthy. So here's one from last night's dessert: frozen cream puffs. Yummy.I finished another book today, Under the Tuscan Sun. It was marvelous. Now I know why my mother gave me the book, why she fell in love with the idea of going to Italy, and took all those Italian classes... It really was the sort of book that takes you with its beauty, transports you: makes you feel it could be you. Actually for me it inspires me to make changes to my home, which is no where near as old as Bramsole, but none the less needs restore and saving from bad remodels done in the 50s. ;)
Incidentally, when I came down after the kids (and the husband) fell asleep, I found the movie to have just started on tv. So I thought I'd watch it. It is NOTHING like the book. It's probably a good movie in and of itself, but having just finished the book, the changes in the movie feel like "why"... I guess it's been made more Hollywood.
I was thinking earlier of my garden, changes I want to make, things I want to plant, and I found myself thinking of roses. I've never grown roses, or really any flowers myself, but I find myself wanting to plant some roses. I think it's in my blood. I sat thinking about it today, imagining myself in the garden, with my roses, and my mother and grandmother along side me. Destiny, prehaps, to grow and tend roses? It's a desire I've never had before this day.
Leila's been talking about our chickens, and how we should only get egg ones because she doesn't want to eat our chickens. "Chickens don't really want to be eaten," she tells me in the car, "they just want to run away." Hmm, will our "connect to our food chain" project breed a little vegetarian?

I am SOOOO in Leila's corner! I wouldn't have the courage to kill a chicken to eat and glad that I never witnessed it. I have eaten chicken, of course, but it is not the same when you don't have to participate in the
event!
Rock on, Leila! Let the chickens run free!
