30/365

Photo: the kids and Ali play a couple games of Don't Spill the Beans while I make dinner. Thanks, honey, for distracting them for a bit. The period of time right before dinner is often the most stressful of the whole day.

Inspired by a friend on a bulletin board, and my love of a good deal, I went to Target this morning, in hopes of finding some nice clearanced toys for the kid's upcoming birthdays. Alas, my Target must have cleared most of its stuff already, because there wasn't much I was interested in for my kids. I did get a game for them, and a game for us (digital Trivial Pursuit, how's that Mom?).

We finally got down to the hardware store for some paint for our kitchen and den. The one for the den looks perfect, but the color for the kitchen is too pink. It's just not going to work and I'm going to have to buy a quart of something darker and richer and mix it in. I'm not having a hot-pink toned kitchen, I'm sorry. I was taping the molding this evening with Scotch painter's tape, and every time I pulled off a strip I was reminded of the NICU at Children's in Seattle. I'm think it must be the smell of the stickers they use to stick all those cords and IVs to the babies in there. Funny how smells can trigger memories like that. I was left transported to my time with both kiddos in the NICU. I find myself hoping that my next baby is born at home and STAYS at home.
