This morning we made bird feeders for the birds, which is one of the favorite activities of the kids. I like it for two reasons: first, it helps the children learn a sense of caring for others, and being good stewards. Second, I like it because they sat and watched the birds for 25 minutes, then watched the squirrels for another 10. Ahhh, peace to cook lunch! ;)
The only bad thing about the feeding the birds: we went upstairs to put Elyas down for his nap, and when I looked out the window I said "hey, there's a cardinal, come see!" Well, Elyas came running over to see and tripped on his way, careening nose first into the windowsill. Blood gushed and for a minute I could see a line across his nose where he hit. That didn't last long as the swelling came quickly. Poor little guy. A call into the pediatrician said not to bring him in unless he was having breathing problems, so I just treated him at home with arnica. He seems okay, I just hope he's not going to look like Owen Wilson when he grows up.

I am glad he wasn't more badly hurt. I don't think we have had any bird related injuries yet but I could definitely see it happening.
Oh no! Poor little guy!
Your children are so lucky to have a mom and dad who like to teach them so many things! They are "off the charts" smart, and wonderful fun to be with! We need an Ichat! I miss them so much!
Love,
Nanny
