22/365

Today was yet another day, stuck inside because of our viruses. I just don't want to infect others (Iowa friends, you can thank me now ;) ). The kids have been systematically trashing the house: I'll clean one area while they trash another. I can't wait for spring and playing outside!
Ali was home for most of the day, he had a dinner meeting, so I took the chance to get out and walk down to the DMV and get my Iowa plates. Yes, that's right, I've lived in Iowa for almost 6 months and I'm just getting my plates now! If you read in July/August you may recall we had car problems right before leaving Washington and ended up buying our van days before moving. Well, the lady we bought it from didn't have the title, so she gave us one piece of Washington paper saying they had sold it to us. When we got to Iowa and tried to register it, I found out that that was only for dealer use, not a private sale. So I had to call her and tell her. So she and her husband had to apply for a lost title and got a letter stating they had sold it to us notarized and had both sent to us. Since they had their title sent directly to us in Iowa, it didn't have their signatures on it, and apparently Washington is a "paperless" title state, but Iowa isn't and I would have to have a signed original title. So I sent it back to them, had them sign it, and got it back from them just days before we left for Washington in December. What a fiasco! But now we have our Iowa plates, though I'll miss the pretty picture of Mt. Rainier and the ease of picking our gold van out from amongst all the other gold Honda vans in the parking lots!

Since we are still "without car" and still sickies, we stayed home and made a mess today!
