Whoa

I just had a very, very odd experience which now, after a bit of googling I come to realize I had an ocular migraine.

I was putting tattoos on the kids in the bathroom and when I came out, I seemed to have a blind spot, as if I'd stared at a light bulb (but I couldn't remember doing so). At first it was small, but I realized within a few minutes it wasn't normal. It seemed to be getting larger, and larger and moved into the center of my vision. Then I began to see a zig zag in my vision, flashing with intense white and rainbow colors; the zig zag grew until it was distorting most of my vision, at this point I was on google, trying to find out what it was. I came across a page for ocular migraine and figured this was what it was so I quickly gulped down a pepsi. I couldn't clearly see anything at this point, only stuff in the peripheral was clear. Within 5 minutes of drinking the pepsi, things started to return to normal, and 5 minutes later, it was gone. Lasted about 30 minutes start to finish, but man, it was weird. I have a slight headache now, but not a full blown "usual" migraine.

Oh man, I had one of those once. Mine wasn't nearly as bad as yours though. I was walking through a parking lot absentmindly looking at license plates. In California the license plates follow a certain pattern (number, 3 letters, 3 numbers) and if they aren't they are probably vanity plates. I couldn't figure out what all these people were doing with vanity plates and what their vanity plates meant. Until I realized my right eye had a blindspot so I couldn't see all the letters on the plate in glance. If I concentrated I could make everything out, but its so trippy how the brain fills in spots that we aren't focusing on.

What does Pepsi do? I haven't heard of that? Caffeine?

yep, it was the fastest mode of caffeine deliver I had. I chased it with a good strong cup of british tea. :p
