We went to three stores looking for kids umbrellas before I set aside my scruples and went to a dreaded Big Box store *eek*!!! I guess people must buy their kids new umbrellas for the school year. Of course they only had "character" umbrellas, which I am opposed to, but at least my kids don't know who the characters are, I guess. Ah well, they are happy with their umbrellas!
I would have been happier if I could find simple, no picture umbrellas for them. Or how about ducks or frogs or something "rain like", you know? It's not that I have anything against Dora (expect her annoying voice, which is why the show is not aired in my home!), but why to children need to be so inundated with commercial things?? I hate the idea of them wanting some crappy junk toy because it has so-and-so on it. I want to keep them away from this as long as possible, until, at least, they are able to absorb my lectures about not being a free advertising board for the likes of Abercrombie, Tommy Hilfiger, Ecko, or whoever has the popular clothes lines these days. Bah.

You can only find the cute ones online, and they're like $20....I feel your pain. Our Dora one just broke - darn!
Even when she's not smiling, she is such a pretty girl!
