We had fun meeting up with some of the home schoolers at a beach park today! Both Olivia (talking to Leila), and Isabella (in the back ground) are 5 year olds - a sampling of the group of 5 year olds we have this year! So fun to have more younger friends to play with these days. When we first joined the home schooling group our kids were certainly some of the youngest, and I'm pretty sure all the other families that had younger kids had older ones too. Granted, it was when Leila was 3.5, so I am guessing that most people, even if they plan to home school, don't join home schooling groups until their children are actually "school age". I do recommend joining a group earlier if you do plan to home school - they are an invaluable resource, even before your child would be doing their first official year. I have felt lucky to have them to lean on when I have wavered in my decision, or wondered about my approach. And it's nice to already have formed relationships with other kids who won't be going off to school while Leila is staying at home.
