For a fellow who doesn't have children of his own, David is really patient and fun with our kids! They really enjoy his visits, I think they have come to think of him as an uncle of sorts, and in many ways I think of him as our only "family" in Iowa. Ali and David went to graduate school together and both ended up in Iowa, the same year!

It is the best thing ever to have "family" that aren't necessarily yours by blood. I don't know where Karise's kids would have been without that, for sure. Love is love and it doesn't need boundaries of definition. One can never have too many Uncle Davids!
