33/365

Ah, beautiful sunset. Leila said it was as pretty as Hawaii. See, Dad, you could come here! ;)

I went back to the hardware store today to get some primer and some darker paint... we're painting our kitchen red, and apparently the VOC-free paints don't take deep colors very well. So I got a tinted primer, and some darker paint to add to my red, that has an almost hot pink look, in hopes that it will actually be red in under 10 coats.

After the hardware store we proceeded to Housewares, a neat little consignment store that's specialty is obvious. I mostly try to avoid this store because I always end up with too much stuff. I guess I was still feeling disappointed about my fruitless Target bargain shopping attempt the other day. I made up for it though. I got a mini porcelain tea set for Leila, a viewfinder for Elyas with lots of slides; a pair of old-fashioned roller skates you strap on to a child's shoes (metal ones with a leather strap! cool!); a folding laundry hanger; a non-electric, no salt needed hand cranking ice cream maker (awesome); two pretty copper trivets; a copper jelly mold; a food mill (been wanting one for a while); two "new" mugs for the kids; a nice globe (alas, without the South Ocean); and a couple crystal candle holders... I think that's it... all for $40 (and one cent)! Now that was bargain shopping!

Kidisms:
Last night I was reading Living with Chickens in the bed (with my booklight) while putting Elyas to sleep, and he kept turning from nursing to look at the book. I told him that it was time to go to sleep and he said, "Just tell me what the chicken is doing, Mommy." LOL! That boy is verbal.
