Photo essay on Iowa living

bunny
Iowa City seems to have a lot of rabbits. We see these little brown rabbits everywhere, including the backyard of our new house. I'm thinking that, while they are cute now, they will be my garden annoyance.

owie mouth
Elyas has an amazing ability to hurt himself whereever we go. He somehow injured his mouth on the climber in the bunny picture

ped mall climber
There is an nice big play structure down in the ped mall, right outside the library. Leila loves the challenge of the chain ladder.

park friends
Leila is very social. When we go to the playground, she finds a pack of girls to run around and play with. Elyas wants to join in the girls' fun, but as you can see here, they didn't want to play with him. Poor bubby.

wholesome midwest milk
Not that you can't get it in Seattle. But this milk comes in glass jugs (no pthlates or pvc), and is organic from grass feed free range cows. And it's quite tasty, good to the last drop.
It even has a decent price. A half gallon is $2.99

corn
Fresh organic Iowa sweet corn from the farmer's market.

corn eater
mmmmmm

Sarah, I love these pictures! And I'm glad that things seem to be fairly stable with the house - glad it passed inspection.

As one who has refinished hardwood floors before, I would recommend pulling up the carpeting before you move in, but taking it a bit slow with the refinish project as that can take weeks.

It is so exciting! Your own home - Leila looks like she's enjoying herself there and Elyas loves the corn. I am envious - I miss Iowa, though I love it in Seattle, too. Can't wait to come visit you all!

I love you,

Suzy

Yah, you'll have to put a fence around your garden for those bunnies! Our neighbors had trouble for years with their tomatoes, but they finally put the fence up this year and no problems! :)

Glad you are finding things you like! IA City is a great area for organics...not like our small town!

Thanks for the pictures! I loved them and it is great to see the kids doing so well and having nice places to play and fine new friends.

I am so jealous...Iowa corn!!! Isn't that so delicious?

Great news about your temporary residence! That will be so helpful!

I hope you have read "Peter Cottontail" to the kids!

Love,

Nanny

love the picts! that play ground in the ped mall is the best!! i'm so glad you guys are liking it here. i say yes pull the carpet before you move in that way its already done. if the piano's on wheels you can always move it around or get those mover things to but under it until it's at it permanent home. if your doing a garden i would reccomend putting chicken wire around it to keep the bunnies out ;)
