This is one of my one going battles... living in a consumptive society, it's hard to step away from consuming tons of crap! Really, I don't need to buy ten different plastic sippy cups for Leila; Elyas barely plays with toys; and how many shirts do I really need? I think this may have been sparked by the sorting through 4 loads of clean laundry that had managed to pile up on the bedroom floor instead of getting put into proper places. So, I've broken out
The Simple Living Guide once again, and I'm really going to make efforts to reduce the amount of stuff we have... especially before we move again.
One stage of this effort is also using up things we have in our pantry to cook, instead of going to the store and just buying more stuff to stick in the pantry. This will take some creative menu planning to get rid of the cans of straw mushrooms, garbanzo beans, and pickled beets.

Came across your blog. Keep up what you are doing. People will always have their views but is it your family so do what your heart tells you. I am all about living simple.
Beans...make hummus.
Beets...make a salad.
Never had straw mushrooms, but I bet you could use them in a stir-fry.
I think you are going on a good path. Stay focused and your family will love you for it.
HAHAHA
