On Saturday we decided to head out for an adventure to a place we'd never been before, and so we picked Lake MacBride, about
half an hour's drive from our home. I wish I had brought their swim suits - I forgot to grab them and they wanted to swim, so they just did in their clothes. They had a real blast playing in the water, swimming all around. It was just deep enough for Elyas to go out to far and get scared because he lost his foot (and if any fathers are reading this, if your wife is yelling
at you to go out in the water quickly and grab your son because he needs help, don't wade in slowly and beckon him in. Your wife will be mad at your for days for doing this). See how Elyas is crying above? It wasn't because he was having loads of fun at the moment, I can assure you!.
Jude and I mostly hung out on the picnic blanket, under a tree. He was particularly fond of the tree in that way that babies are.

Elyas also didn't appreciate being splashed by his sister. :P

On the Fourth we went downtown for the Jazz Festival. Unfortunately we didn't get to hear any music! We'd gone down early in the day because it was supposed to rain all afternoon, and the group who was supposed to be on the main stage at 1 still wasn't out when we left at 145. Ah well.
The kids did enjoy running around on the grass and climbing a tree.
We'd considered going to the fireworks show in the evening, but decided not too because Elyas was tired and the weather was looking bleak. As I was putting Elyas to bed around 815 a storm passed over, the type that has a river running down the street in
its wake. So it was really a good thing we didn't go. From the sound of it, the show didn't start up on time, due to the wet weather. My mom would think I'm a stick in the mud, but I'm ju
st not really into firework shows so much, so there wasn't much
motivation to brave the weather!Leila had Hermione Granger hair on Sunday. It was awesome. :)
Happy Independence Day!
