As most of you know, we co-sleep with our children. Of course this is met with occasional well meaning concern, mostly about the children's independence (which is overrated in my opinion) being neglected. Well, our sweet Leila, who has been put to bed and nap every day of her life with someone there with her, snuggling her, guiding her to sleep; she's started putting herself down for nap and bed! She says to us "I'm going to lay down and close my eyes by myself", and she does it (mostly). I'm so proud of her. And phooey to those who say it squelches them. She's doing just fine with independence, if you ask me. And on her own terms, too. That makes me happy, and I know I am doing right by my children.
And while on the topic of sleep, had a very cute moment with Elyas today. When we came home from my parents house (taco monday), Elyas went to the study and found the boppy, and pulled it to me saying "night-night!!! night-night!!" He was tired and ready to go to sleep! AWWW!

Ohh, that sounds so awesome! It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Hunter is the sleep fightin' champ so we don't push it and wait for him to give us signs that its time to work with him to get him to sleep. But it can be so stressful at times. It just seems like letting him lead us on the sleep thing is the way towards "sleep independence" when he is ready.
