Sleep disruptions and other ramblings

for those of you who have raised infants, this may sound familiar. Elyas has been quite wakeful at night lately; last night was something akin to every hour or so. My theory was crawling - the boy is getting close, though he still has a way to go. There is much rolling and snake-crawling done in the bed in the nighttime hours. And then this morning, I discovered a first tooth barely poking through his (quite swollen) gums. Poor little guy, it explains the fussiness lately. he's having a tougher go of teething than Leila did, though on relatively the same schedule.

We've been busy with preparations for moving and a surprise (well, not total surprise) trip to Oregon this week. First on the topic of moving, we'll take the keys on Friday most likely so we can have the weekend for moving. We probably won't move all at once, which is easier by far. I have a bunch of stuff I want to get rid of a few things I want to acquire (crock pot, rice cooker, toaster, desk for Ali, and washer/dryer). I have a ton of books I want to be rid of - I've decided that I primarily use the internet for reference and I don't look at these books on my shelf. The parenting books - well, I seem to just follow my instincts for the most part, and some of them don't mesh well with my parenting theories. So, I'm going to make a trip to Half-Price books, and if I can't sell them, then to the goodwill or library they will go.

Monday Ali called me from work and said his sister (and her husband and 3 kids) were in Oregon and wanted to know if we'd drive down for a visit... so we packed our bags and headed down there that afternoon. We had a wonderful time... about which I will write later as the kiddos need me in the present.
