Gratitude 36, 37, 38

36: Wednesday, February 5.  Today we had our clinical skills class. I thought I would be super grateful for our pregnant models this afternoon, who came in to the school and let us examine their bellies, learn Leopold's maneuvers, and get to listen to their little babies' hearts.  And it WAS amazing, and I am grateful for them for coming in and letting us feel and hear their babies.  But I am more grateful for our morning exercise, learning venipuncture.  Feeling babies is something I will do, a lot, and it's beautiful, and wonderful, and nothing too scary about it.  But venipuncture is something we will do less and it's something that we know can hurt our clients.  Getting to learn how to do it on a willing body first is a blessing.  I am thankful for my fellow students and our TAs who offered up their arms to me and let me try.  I am also thankful for finding my knack for it and just being able to do it.  I did miss one, on a harder to find forearm vein, but I have a good sense of confidence now.

37: Today I am grateful for a moment of being young again.  I went out with some of the girls after class for dinner - some of them went out dancing after, but the dinner together was lovely for me.  I had the opportunity to grow my friendship with some of the younger girls, and realize that being one of the older women is okay.

38: I am grateful for learning more about homeopathy today, something I've been curious about, but unwilling to delve into too strongly.  I am so happy to have learned more and gotten some suggestions for books and places to buy a full home kit.  I can't wait to try it out.
