I can't believe we are slipping into the 2nd week of February! Where has the time gone!?! I have some events from January I wanted to make note of:
Jude has officially started solids, he's liking everything he can get his hands on except spinach smoothies. He's tried peaches, pears, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, bananas, avocado, oranges, a little taste of pineapple, and mango. He's also had a couple Os and rice crackers (baby mum mums). And he likes to chew on broccoli stocks - make a great teether!
He also started babbling in January. Little stinker started in with "ba ba! ba ba!" one night. Despite my exuberant encouragment, he's moved on to "la la" and not "mama". Soon.
He is not yet crawling, but he's close! Gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth, sometimes scooches backwards. A month ago he HATED being on his belly, so this is progress. He can however pull up on his play cube. He cut his first tooth in the beginning of January 11th, his second tooth broke through today. Hopefully we will have a break from more teeth for a while!
Leila is getting so big. She will sit down and read several books in a row these days. We go to the library and then she comes home and reads all of her books in 2 days and is annoyed at me. I got her some "big" chapter books (Stink, Magic Treehouse, Droon), and she is able to stretch those out a bit more.
I believe Elyas may be able to read. I know he can sound out words, but I think he has a good number of sight words too. He surprised us by reading some of the Elephant and Piggie books the other night.
Some kid quotes:
E: "please Mommy, can I just eat one raw cauliflower?? PLEEEEAASE???"
Me: "Elyas, I'll give you minute (nurse) for 3 minutes, and then you will be done and go to sleep."
E: "Maybe you'll forget and give me 7 minutes"
Elyas claimed after Christmas he wasn't going to nurse anymore. On Christmas night I put him to bed and told him no more nursing. He replied, "Is Christmas over?" "Yes" "Well, actually I'm still little. And I changed my mind."
Upon me telling him Baba was putting him to bed he said "But Baba is mean!" "How is he mean?" "He farts at the kitties!"
I gave ali and Leila haircuts, Elyas wanted one too "like Grandpa, but with hair."
Some pictures tomorrow, I gotta hit the hay.
