Some Hawaii Pics

I'm about halfway through the Hawaii pictures, now that I can actually process more than 2 an hour! So here is about half of them, some of these may have been on Facebook. (all photos can be clicked on to see a larger size).

This one is Leila from January of 08, sitting on the whale at the park.

Two years later. :)

Leila in Hilo.

Dad and Leila at Hapuna. Leila did eventually learn to ride a boogie board, though I wasn't able to get any pictures! :(

Dad feeds Leila to a tiki at Puuhonua o Honaunau

Then it's Elyas' turn!

This photo just cracks me up. He needs some Maori war paint on his face and it will be complete!

Down by the natural energy lab tide pools, great place for kids!

And by Honokohau Harbour.

Watching the sunset with Grandpa.

Dad and Adam when we went for a hike at Honaunua. There was a pod of sleeping dolphins in the bay, unfortunately I didn't bring the zoom lens down.

The next few pictures are from a hike we did up in Kohala. I can't remember the name of the valley, I will ask Adam next time we talk to him. The rocks were all smoothed by the surf, the sand was so fine and black, like gunpowder. Mom didn't hike down, on account of her knee. It was a HARD hike, especially with two kids! I posted a picture of the cliff we had to hike down on switch back. WOW.
When gunpowder-fine sand gets in your crack, it's even more fun than the coarser stuff!

This is how all the rocks looked, like they'd been through a tumbler! The surf wasn't bad when we were down there, but you could tell by the rocks and the cliffs it gets bad!

Throwing rocks back into the ocean is always fun.

Dad and the kids, playing.

I guess I didn't load up the picture of the cliff we hiked down, here is a partial pic of it. The things I circled are people coming down the trail, to give an idea of scale! It took about 45 minutes coming down, maybe an hour going up! Thankfully Uncle Adam was there to help, I don't think Dad and I could have done it on our own.

This was taken from the trail down into the valley, this is just the first of many such valleys.

Dad and Leila, at their favorite beach in the world. (Hapuna)

Ali and Elyas at the tidepools, on a high-surf day.
