I had a mysterious flower come up in the greenhouse. At first it looked like a pepper, but as it grew it became apparent that it wasn't. A few weeks ago, I said, "ya know, this looks like a sunflower!" Sure enough, here it is in all its glory, with a friendly bee. I'm thinking it migrated from the bird feeder that is right outside the greenhouse.

We harvested a few of our purple carrots, they aren't quite done, but the sure look cool!

Elyas with his purple carrot.

The first of the many zucchinis we will have this year.
Peas, beans, and cukes gone wild! We've already harvested several pounds of peas, though no runner beans yet (though we've had bush beans, about a pound), and no cucumbers yet, but a lot of flowers on them!
Here are some of the bush beans.
And a cuke flower. One of many.
Harvesting beets, these are the cylindra.
My garden assistants are often nude. For your protection, I have not included photos of the actual gardener in her element. ;)
One of the beets we harvested had an "S" in it! The kids kept carefully checking through their soup to see who got the "S beet".
We've also harvested some of the globe type beets.
And a green pepper is coming along nicely. Or maybe it will be a red one. Only time will tell!
The first of the broccoli crowns. I think this is a Romanesco, which is supposed to make pyramid florets. Heirloom seeds are awesome.
I made Leila a matching game with upper and lower case letters to help her, she's been confused about which lowers go with which uppers, especially a, b, d, p, g, and q.
Leila's drawing, you can tell which little person is whom, because they are holding their initial (in mirror image, though she tried to fix the "L" when this was pointed out to her).

Kamut flour tortillas.
Yummy granola bars.
Coconut flour-carob cookies.
Ali is slowing building our barbeque. Maybe by the end of the week we can do some grilling (and rocket-stoving!).

Just perfect!
It all looks so lovely!!!
Will the barbecue pit have a pizza or bread section?

Allie - my plan is to build an earth oven for pizza/bread, but I don't think that will happen this year. Maybe, but not likely.
