Thankful

I have a lot to be thankful for this year. All in all, it's been a bang-up year!

First, I have to share what Leila said yesterday. We were discussing what we were thankful for, and Leila said "I'm thankful of my brother". I thought it was so sweet; even though they don't always get along, they always have each other. I'm so glad she loves her sibling!

Now, I am very thankful of Ali getting a job this year. At a time when many Americans are struggling in our economy, jobs are harder to get, we were lucky enough to get a job! And in a place we like enough to live long-term. The job is at a great institution, and it's tenure-track. I don't think Ali could have gotten a better job, and since it was the only offer, we are very thankful it was a good one!

I am thankful we found a wonderful house in a part of town that makes it so we can rely less on our car!

I am thankful for finding the wonderful homeschooling network here. I have made some friends here that I feel are the best friends I have had in a long, long time. I am so pleased to find like-minded families!

And now, being so far from my family, I am very thankful for them and the moments we can be together. I am also very thankful for Skype; it has really helped my children stay connected with my family.

I am thankful to WorkForce Logic for giving me a job; and I am thankful for Dave Ramsey and his book "The Total Money Makeover". I truly feel both these things have and will change our lives.

But above all, I am thankful for my small and beautiful family. I love my children beyond words, I can't imagine life without them. They are all I have dreamt, they are brilliant little teachers, who are helping me to better myself as I raise them. I am thankful for my husband, without whom I would not have these two little beings. Ali, my love for you only grows with time, and even though we are busy with our two little people and don't get to spend as much time together as we would like, I love you with all my heart.

I am thankful for my wonderful family and for Skpe, too! I want to stay in the lives of the children in my family who are far away, and it is always a special time! I got such a kick out of "Be right back, Nanny!" yesterday!

I'm glad things seem to be moving along so well for you, Sarah and for your family! In this rough time there is so much to be thankful for..a home, a job family and friends.

Love

Nanny

Oh Sarah, you are such a wonderful lady! Your post makes me miss my old stomping-grounds! I'm having a heck of a time finding a homeschool circle here. Iowa City is such a wonderful place. I'm so glad you're enjoying life in Iowa.
