Oh so busy!!

The moving truck comes on Friday. Can I hear an *EEK*? I moved the date up so we would have the truck for the weekend. I still need to rent a uhaul to get the piano from my uncles house to the truck. But as you can guess, I'm in the whirlwind of packing while simultaneously trying to get rid of shite on craigslist and freecycle. Anyone want a table and chairs? ;)

I did get my birthday present from Ali... he asked me what I wanted, and I said some new ink (and much to the confusion of many of my online friends, no I did not mean toner for my printer). Here's what I got:
new ink

I like it. The celtic knot, to me, looks like a heart with wings symbolizing how my love will have to travel far now that we will be far from family. It will always remind me of this time of my life: a new adventure, an adjustment to life far from "home". I hope the memories will be positive ones.

Anyway, I'm too busy to be sad about leaving my family. I anticipate that next week, when the truck is all packed and the apartment is cleaned out, I will feel differently. It's been hard, knowing for so long that this was coming, having to deal with the emotions for so long. It would have been easier if we'd have found out two months ago (though not the waiting to know if Ali had a job... eh, I guess you just can't have it easy). It soon will be rolling, for better or worse.

I was wondering if this has special going-away significance...

I got a new serger before we moved. After buying it, we called it my birthday present, although it was at least 2 months early. I was so surprised Mark agreed to get it for me so quickly after I had waddled over to Office Depot (in the same shopping center as the machine dealer) to tell him the one I wanted is on sale. Later, he told me that he bought it because it was the first time he had seen me really excited about anything since moving became a serious possibility.

Moving as an adult is hard. At least you aren't moving 1 week post-partum! You'll be able to get out and meet new people right away. :)
